This is an excellent post by a leader from the Middle East, bringing out the challenges facing the Christians there but also the opportunities and hope.

Thoughts From a Resident Alien
COMMUNICATING ACROSS BOUNDARIES
Thinking Christianly about the American Past
Interesting closing phrases:
“there is inversely a growing movement of Christ-followers entering the Kingdom of God with looser ties to the more formal religious institution. ……. Unwittingly, we may be witnessing a discreet revolution that will overturn the societies of the MENA region as we know them. So when some of us feel inclined to toll the funeral bells for the official representative historical church in the MENA region – whose reality on the ground is very sad indeed – we may want to pause and give some thought to the Body of Christ beyond the institutional walls.”
Could similar be said outside MENA? Is there a parallel there and in how we behave, minister, reach this common group though refugees for different reasons?
I’m glad there are those like you to probe, consider, and expose this to light

Thanks Steve. I think this same statement could be made of regions all over the world, including North America and Europe as well. I just wrote a blog post today on the Church outside political and cultural power.
